Travis Märäk

Travis Märäk’s color drenched abstractions bring life and music to the Downtown Art Spaces.

Travis began painting relatively recently as a sort of “self-therapy” that turned into a body of work that is so full of life and energy that one feels moved standing in front of the large pieces. Painting on such a large scale, there is an almost other-worldly feel to them and the sensation that you could tip right into the cavas.

Travis’s process begins with music. He dons headphones and listens to music and creates from the movement he hears, expressing it on canvas with acrylic paint. He builds his own canvases, and most of his work is quite large.

Travis will have a solo show up throughout the months of August and September in the Downtown Art Spaces. His opening reception will be at Midtown Art Space, 116 S 4th Street, on August 9 at 5:30pm.
